This is an original vintage metal Coats & Clark’s O. Boilfast Mercerized thread spool countertop display cabinet with sliding glass doors. The cabinet is marked Capitol Counter Display Co. (Brooklyn, NY) on the back. The cabinet is filled with many unused vintage Coats & Clark thread spools, but there are a few spools from other brands that were thrown in. Each row in the cabinet is labeled with a different thread color, and the spools are currently not displayed in the correct rows. The cabinet overall is in very good condition with typical surface wear from age and use. The sliding doors are a bit difficult to slide (there are no handles on them, you just have to push them by hand) but they do work and the cabinet is fully functional. There is some paint missing and the metal has acquired some areas of surface rust (visible in the photos). A couple of the thread compartments inside have some paint missing and flaking underneath the spools. There is some dirty, dusty residue inside, but overall, the interior looks very good. The cabinet has no obvious dents and nothing is broken or repaired. Vintage 1950’s Bozo The Clown Animated Store Display Capitol Records Inc.. We had this display working but he does not rise up and down like designed. The motor runs but nothing happens. Even non-functional, this is a great piece of history. He could use a good cleaning. Round base is some type of heavy duty cardboard. Hands are worn and torn (also cardboard but my h thinner like the kind you use for signs) but original and intact. Measures 13 1/2″ tall × 8″ in diameter. This is for a very rare Capitol Records dome store display. I believe it dates from somewhere in the late 1940s to early 1950s. There are very few of these left in existence. It was meant to go out front of a record store. It is a very heavy plaster casting. I have only ever seen 1 other example of these. It is a very rare and unusual iconic display piece. It has some repairs to cracks and a chip off of the “a”. It is plaster so it can be refurbished well. Please check out all the images to see the exact condition.
