This is a vintage Sony “ON AIR” illuminated studio sign, believed to have been manufactured in Japan around 1979. Once used in professional broadcasting environments or as promotional displays, this rare Sony product is highly prized for its distinctive retro design. When illuminated, the large white “ON AIR” lettering and Sony logo stand out against the red front panel, making it a striking accent piece for a studio, office, shop, garage, or collection room. Due to its age and limited availability, finding a unit that still functions properly is extremely difficult today. It has been tested, and the internal light illuminates correctly. Signs of aging and use are visible across the exterior, including noticeable scratches, scuffs, paint loss, dirt, and discoloration. The red front panel shows scratches and surface scuffs; there is significant paint wear, particularly along the top and bottom edges. As shown in the photos, there is an area of?? surface paint loss caused by a scratch, as well as a small dent, near the top center of the front panel. The black metal housing also shows numerous scratches, scuffs, dust, and general signs of use. The label and pads on the back show signs of aging, cracking, dirt, and discoloration. They are 3 sides triangles and measure approximately 12″x9″x9 not including the base. They plugged in and light up. All of them work. The number five as a couple of pictures. This would be great and a dive bar or man cave. They have some dust and wear.

This is an authentic, empty vintage retail store display light box originally intended to advertise Jantzen swimwear and apparel. The unit was manufactured by Illuminated Sales & Display Inc. And features internal components that date it to the mid-to-late 20th century, likely the 1960s or 1970s. Condition & Features Status: The unit has been tested and is in working condition. It is a double-sided unit, both sides have an opening for a poster. This is 20.5 inches in height 14.5 inches in length and 6.5 inches in width. Equipped with its original General Electric (GE) fluorescent ballast. This ballast is a pre-1979 unit (does not contain PCBs), which helps date the item. Dallas, is attached to the back. The frame and internal components show typical wear and tear expected of a vintage item, including some dirt/dust and minor scratches. Please review all photos for exact condition details.
