Nice solid vintage shape. Shows normal wear and age. Has some light scratches. Shelves have some patina and paint loss. Does have some very slight bending on the sides, but no giant dents, and nothing is broken. It’s very sturdy. The backside advertisement is still very nice. As a whole it displays very well. It’s not a small display. It’s 21″ tall a little over 17″ wide and 5.5 deep. Displays very well, and could be used to displays many things. The bottom shelves clearance e is 7.5″ and the middle is 6″. See pictures to make your own determination on physical condition.

This piece is a fascinating example of mid-20th century engineering, originally used to demonstrate the functionality of wind-powered generators. Materials: Metal model with wooden blades. Height: 21.5 inches Base 6.5″ X 6.5″. Condition: Fair to good condition. The model shows signs of wear consistent with its age, and is unmarked. Please review the detailed photos to assess the overall condition. Founded in 1917 in Clarinda, Iowa, the Parris-Dunn Corporation initially gained recognition for its wind generators and other mechanical innovations. In 1934, they introduced wind generators based on the patented “Slip the Wind” governing principle, designed by co-founder William Dunn. This innovation allowed the blades to pivot and tilt, protecting the windmill from damage during high winds by reducing the force exerted on the blades. Parris-Dunn wind generators were particularly popular throughout the 1930s and early 1940s, serving as a reliable source of electricity for rural areas before widespread electrification. Though the demand for their wind generators declined with the expansion of rural electrification, Parris-Dunn’s legacy in innovative mechanical design remains significant. This model, though unmarked, reflects the quality and ingenuity for which the company was known. This model would make a unique addition to any collection of industrial or historical models, offering a glimpse into the practical applications of wind energy technology from the mid-20th century. These are becoming increasingly harder to find.

MODEL B-33 ELECTRIC HIT & MISS STEAM ENGINE. When I was a kid, we had these engines. The poorer kids had the manually-fired ones with charcoal or sterno-fired boilers, and we resented the rich kids who had the electrically-heated boilers that they could just plug in. Ours were messy, and you had to wait for the boiler to get “fired-up”. So, when I first bought this engine (along with a few peripheral parts-see my other auctions) I was mystified when I examined it. There WAS no “boiler”! When I looked it up on a collector site, they said that this model was likely made as a hobby-shop or toy store window dressing, pumping away and spinning various tools continuously, without having to keep an eye on boiler water levels. With a transformer a several sets of points, it chugs away just like a “real” steam engine. The cast-iron base measures 7″ by 11″. This engine DOES work, with a little “help” to get it moving. It needs a good cleaning of all it’s parts (including the points) and a good lubing to run trouble-free. This is an original Revell USS Essex Air Craft Carrier built as a store display by Revell. It is in remarkable condition for its age. It was mounted and painted by Revell for hobby shops. A few items could be missing, couple planes and pennants. Paint is still very nice, obviously could use a cleaning but I have left it original. This model was on display at the hobby shop in Cameron Village, Raleigh, NC.
