Vintage Metal Store Clothing Display Unusual Mid Century

I have never seen a clothing display like this one, and can’t find much on them. Its obviously a female torso, the sides pop open on the bottom to keep it standing, it looks like a lamp finial was used on the very top. It is gold in color, metal, and from what I can see no flaws.

This is a very cool and Unusual Vintage Old Huge Big Cowboy Boot Western Store Display Sign, acquired in Los Angeles, California, and likely dating to the 1950’s – 1960’s. This oversized cowboy boot is made of fiberglass, with a heel that has actual rubber on the bottom like a real boot. This was certainly used as a store display sign in front of an old Western wear or cowboy boot shop. I have seen similar pieces throughout my life, but sadly when the old stores close down these often disappear with them. It is very rare to still see these anywhere in Los Angeles. Photo 22 shows how this boot would have been placed in front of a store. Approximately 25 1/2 inches tall x 20 inches deep (toe to heel) x 8 inches wide. Good condition for decades of age and outdoor use, exposure to the elements, etc. With an honest patina of some expected chipping, paint loss and small areas of material loss throughout please see photos. This is quite an unusual piece. A jewelry display case (table) from a jewelry store. With four swing out stools which the patron and the owner can use. The top glass piece is hinged and can be lifted from the opposite side to gain access to the merchandise. What a wonderful display case it would make to display your treasures while still having the stools as part of the conversation piece. This piece has been professionally restored and is in excellent condition. The finish is excellent along with the black cast iron castings on the bottom which give it a great overall look. Brass pieces are on all four corners are intact and free of cracks and breaks. The cast iron legs and apparatus is also in excellent condition. A word about condition. Those of you who have. For the vintage beer or clown collector that has everything… Up for sale is a worn, soiled, tattered clown felt with patches that are in excellent condition. It stands just a little over 3 feet and is approx 28 inches wide from hand to hand with wooden round base that is approx 17 inches in diameter. I used this clown at the door of my home for several Halloween’s where the clown would spook the little kids with the look on it’s face. Not sure where it was placed liquor store? But regardless I think you will agree it is one cool piece! Collecting and Hobbies are great when kept in context and inventory managed. I learned the hard way that when you find new more highly desired items, you need to turn/let go of one of your other prized possessions as one cannot keep/have everything. I thank my kids for forgiving me and remind them that collecting and hobbies are great – just do it in a controlled manner and don’t let pride get in the way and let things get out of control with mass and keep turning it and sell off a few things when you find something you like more… If anyone learns from my mistakes to where this message helps avoid going down the wrong road I did, it will have all been worth it. It is approx 28 – 30 inches wide from outside edge of left hand to outside edge of right hand. The round wooden black base is 17 inches in diameter. The thickness of the clown is approx 5 – 6 inches as the felt just covers flat wooden clown body frame covered tightly by felt could see pine wood by slightly sliding up bottom of bell bottom clown pants. The right arm which has a hole in the palm of the hand as if a can or bottle was affixed to it is actually pine wood. The left arm is thick wire which I suppose was used since nothing was affixed to it. Decoeyes Mannequin Head/Bust Vintage 1940s Style Store Hat Display UNUSUAL Pam

My mannequin heads were made by Decoeyes (Jerry & Susie) in the U. Since Jerrys mannequin heads were so well made, I found them to be completely addictive and I have a lot of them. I will be listing them whenever I can, but this will take time. I used them mainly for photography and many are like new but others have sustained some bumps and bruises, which I will describe to the best of my ability and include in the pictures. These were made of some sort of resin and are nearly unbreakable. There were ones that were cast in what he called Waxi-Cast and I believe I can point those out, as they have a darker complexion than the rest. They were all cast from original mannequin heads of the period and all work was done by hand, including painting and casting. I actually have one that is old and one that is new (Ivy), and I treasure them both as you can really see how he made his mannequin heads so well. The name of this mannequin head is Pam. The following is an exact quote from Decoeyes original description of Pam. This is a precise REPLICA of an unusual 1940’s department store display bust that was molded directly from a vintage model. While the original piece was discovered in “The Land Down Under”, she most likely arrived in Australia via manufacture in Great Britain. This model was made available by a dear friend from “Detroit City”. This is one of the finest sculptures that I have seen and was done by an unknown master of this art. The hair is absolutely beautiful. The paint scheme is entirely my fantasy and came from my love of gypsy folklore. The height is approximately 14″ and the forehead circumference is 22 1/2″ (large hat size). Apparel is for display only and is not included in the final sale. This model was cast with our own technique that we have named “Waxi-Cast”. The material used is our own blend of a made in the USA non-toxic and very durable urethane. The skin is formed with different layers of translucency and resembles the old wax heads of this era. There is a 1 1/4 hole in the bottom that safely permits display on a stand if you so desire. This mannequin head is in excellent condition, with the exception of a tiny scratch on one of her back curls (hardly noticeable, I didn’t even see it the first time I inspected her) and will display your hats beautifully. I have tried to picture the scratch. She is perfect for the tilt/topper hats of the period. I don’t believe the model I have is made from “Waxi-Cast” (I could be wrong), as her complexion is light. She has tiny holes in her earlobes for pierced post earrings (Im not really sure they will fit as the holes are really small). She has brown/black hair, hand painted (partially closed) brown eyes, an unusual beauty mark, and wonderful make-up. Please look at the pictures, as they are part of the description. She is marked on the bottom as follows: Decoeyes, 5-21-4, Pam. The following was one of Decoeyes favorite quotes. There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price only are this man’s lawful prey! Decoeyes mannequins are the ONLY ones I know of that are EXACT reproductions of vintage ones. It’s nice to have one of the old ones but they invariably have chips, cracks, have been repainted (sometimes very crudely), and who knows what? And most are made of plaster, which isn’t nearly as durable as the resin that was used by Decoeyes. Im sure you will love this mannequin head, as I did for so many years!
