This came with an instruction paper from W. Britains Ltd, dated from 1936 [shown in photograph]. The paper indicates this castle was a store display for Britains lead soldiers. For it’s age, it’s in very good condition, having been constructed of wood, covered with a coating of Stucco, where the pieces of wood have shrunk and expanded with the change of seasons, the stucco coating is cracked. The moat is made of glass plate, and has cracks. The drawbridge works, and it appears there are counterweights inside the wall to assist in raising the drawbridge! We found one flagpole with a felt flag, inside the hall. When compared to most large display castles of this type, it is in VERY nice condition. Along the outer wall to the right rear of the main gate, on the side wall, someone has melted what appears to be some wax crayon in red. We have examined this display very carefully, and we believe this is an original W. Britains castle store display, as it was never intended for figures to be inside the castle rooms [where they would be hidden from customer view]. All the buildings have been construction so that toy soldiers can be placed in many locations, and none of the roofs are slanted, all are flat. Plus, at 30 pounds in weight, this is far too heavy for children to move around as they played. There are multiple items still rattling around in the lower areas of the castle the dungeon? When we are able to coax these items out, we will update the listing as to what we found! This is a very large and heavy display, at about 30 pounds. We do our best to accurately describe the items we offer. We try to check for messages daily. We have a stellar reputation in the mid-Atlantic area, and can furnish references on request. We strive to provide the best descriptions and photographs, and have really “neat stuff”, as our name implies! Up thru 2016 when we stopped doing the antique shows, we were one of the top vintage toy dealers at the largest antique show in the Washington, DC area. We do not falsely lower merchandise values or mark items as “gifts” – US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior. Our international clients are very important to us. Please let us know if you have any questions. We do our best to show any type of damage that might have an effect on value. This gives us an opportunity to work with you to come to a FAST resolution of your concerns. The Neat Stuff team! The item “Vintage 1936 W.
