Up for grabs is an incredibly rare antique/vintage sewing machine needle cabinet from Malone & Stahl’s. I can find almost NOTHING about this company online except for one blub about the company on a site called historicoxfordnc. (you know what comes after that last “dot”). Looks like Malone & Stahl’s was an English company and this article refers to them in business during the 1870’s. No idea how long they were in business, but this is literally the only reference to the company I could find. This adorable general store display storage cabinet was from an era that is very hard to find collectibles from. It reminds me of a sewing / silks spool cabinet with it’s wood drawers and labels. The size is 17.75″ wide x 11.75″ deep x 4.5 tall. One of the 4 wood knobs is cracked as the photo shows but it looks like it could be removed and glued pretty easily. The paper labels on the top and front have the crackling / crazing you would expect from a piece almost 150 years old, but given their age, I’m surprised that they survived as well as they have. Inside the bottom drawer there are dividers that I’m guessing held boxes of needles. The top drawer has little curved “troughs” for what I’m guessing held loose, individual needles and it made them easy to get out with one finger for the store owner. Some of the compartments inside the top drawer still have some handwritten labels from what appears to be the sewing machine manufacturers. These are loose, torn, damaged, etc. But add a wonderful element and a look into the life of an old general stores organization. There are scratches to the wood, some minor nicks and dings again as I would expect from something this old and rare. Look at the photos since they ARE part of the description and you should use them to judge the condition more than my written words.
