Here’s what I know about this rare wooden/composition 20″ tall Ideal Toy Company “Pinnochio. It was apparently one of only a few dozen made to be displayed in stores, this one is to have come from Whittier, California. Made in the 30’s or 40’s it is in remarkable condition, fully articulated. It is in need of a cleaning or a good wiping down. There is some loss of composite material and some cracking of it on the head and hands, but there is no other major damage to the doll. It stands nicely in its wire holder. The label on the stomach is maybe 75% complete and what I can make out is the “nocchio” of Pinnochio, something…. The neat hard felt hat still has its great original feather. The exterior of the hat is very dusty, would imagine it could be cleaned to look better–I just brushed it off. The underside of the hat is a bright yellow. It looks like it was originally glued to the head. The doll itself, as you can tell, is very colorful, large, and a rarity for sure.
