Vintage Ace Brand Purse and Pocket Combs. 25 Cent Wooden Revolving Store Display. Up for you consideration is a vintage Ace Hardware Purse and Pocket Combs. Unsure of its age, but if I had to guess I would say 40’s or early 50’s. It adorns great vintage advertising. Needs some cleaning and restoration (read condition below), but the uses for this piece are limited to your imagination. Measurements : 11″ tall by 9 1/2″ wide. The drawers need some work as the bottom drawer is broken at its side and bottom. The middle drawer is all intact (organizers and all), but glue has given out and is now being held by duct tape (easy fix) in the back. Top drawer is in good condition, but is missing its two organizing dividers. There is a stain ring on the top of box and a child has written there name on it as well (Connie I believe), but nothing a light sand and some refinishing couldn’t fix. The advertising is has some has some wear (worse of it is shown in pic 10), but otherwise the best part of the piece. One side of display is drawers for merchandise but rest are rack-like, but seem to be missing a cross bar that would have held combs in (see pics). There is also some small nail holes on one side, but nothing some putty couldn’t conceal. Unit revolves well, but could use some oil. Piece is also dusty and dirty and in need of a good cleaning. Piece is still pretty solid for being made of all wood. Markings : “ACE Quality 25 cents Select Your Favorite” “Genuine Hard Rubber Sanitary-Durable-Safe” “Purse and Pocket Combs Any Style 25 cents” There is also a variety of model numbers on drawers and throughout display, but too much to list (see pics). Overall, a great piece of store display advertising and with some minor restoration alone would like fantastic in a man-cave or bar area.
