Vintage Princess Peggy Store Display Counter Mannequin, Manikin Doll w/Dress and Stand. Information I have found out about this really cool store counter display mannequin. This is a vintage counter manikin with the smiling face of Princess Peggy, the iconic emblem of Chic Manufacturing Company’s Princess Peggy dresses and aprons. The Illinois company was a well known garment factory during the first half of the 20th century. 24 tall with no markings. Her arms move for some posing and are secured in place by a metal spring. She has molded old-fashioned blonde hair and painted features. Her body is very nice, no cracks or chips, no repairs. There is some wear to edge of shoes on bottoms, and wear to inside area there from being on a stand, but 1940’s style heeled shoes are good, not broken/repaired. She is made so that her right leg is shorter than the left one, and the wooden stand that says “Princess Peggy” on it has a couple of pegs sticking out but she does not fit into the 2 pegs at once, and the stand surface is even and her legs aren’t. I think this is a partial stand that needs to be remade so that she stands on pegs and a small raised piece for her right leg. One peg on the stand is broken so it looks like maybe there was more to the stand to accommodate her than there is remaining to the stand. She has not been broken or repaired–she looks like she was made with the one leg a little shorter than the other–that is why there is bubble under the one foot in the photos, and she does stand straight–she is just leaning against the back drop for the photos. The vintage doll salesman sample dress she is wearing is tagged Princess Peggy. It is professionally made with working buttons and buttonholes but the dress is age faded and the spot that appears on the side of the dress in the photo is not on the dress–I looked at the dress and don’t see a spot–just fading. Fading is pretty overall, you can see it brighter on the inside seams. She is still a great vintage store counter display piece–friendly smile on her face and all.
