My mannequin heads were made by Decoeyes (Jerry & Susie) in the U. Since Jerrys mannequin heads were so well made, I found them to be completely addictive and I have a lot of them. I will be listing them whenever I can, but this will take time. I used them mainly for photography and many are like new but others have sustained some bumps and bruises, which I will describe to the best of my ability and include in the pictures. These were made of some sort of resin and are nearly unbreakable. There were ones that were cast in what he called Waxi-Cast and I believe I can point those out, as they have a darker complexion than the rest. They were all cast from original mannequin heads of the period and all work was done by hand, including painting and casting. I actually have one that is old and one that is new (Ivy), and I treasure them both as you can really see how he made his mannequin heads so well. The name of this mannequin head is Nicole. This is an exact quote from Decoeyes original description of Nicole. This is a replica of a 1920’s store display mannequin head. This display is 15″ tall and has a 22″ forehead circumference. These early Berlin, Germany models were the best available during this era. This head imparts a period euro look as a hat display and is about as pretty as they come. She has a very unique asymmetrical Eton bob hairstyle; the right side ends in the classical point trim while the left side terminates in a flirty chignon. The colors and detail style used are accurate to the flapper era and specifically to 20’s vogue Germany; this is how a display model in a truly vintage 1920s store would appear. This model is very close to what the original display appeared in its new, out-of-the box condition and consequently will display fine vintage apparel in an accurate and tasteful manner. The primary objective of Decoeyes is to duplicate a historically correct hat and jewelry shop display mannequin true to the golden era of mannequin production (the 1920’s through the 1950’s). We work very hard to create a model that closely resembles a new, mint-in-the-box original display from this era. “Old School” techniques are utilized and no compromises are accepted solely for the purpose of reducing material costs or saving time of labor. This model was cast with our own technique that we have named “Waxi-Cast”. The material used is a non-toxic and very durable urethane manufactured in the USA. The skin is formed with different layers of translucency and resembles the old wax heads of this era. There is a 1 1/4 hole in the bottom that safely permits display on a stand if you so desire. Apparel and stand are not included in the sale. There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price only are this man’s lawful prey! Nicole has blonde hair, beautiful hand painted blue eyes, and lovely makeup. Her base is trimmed with metallic silver paint. She is marked on the bottom as follows: Decoeyes, 11-21-05. Her name isnt inscribed but I know she is Nicole. Nicole is in very good condition with a few small spots where the paint is missing, on the side of her head and on the back (see pictures). Decoeyes mannequins are the ONLY ones I know of that are EXACT reproductions of vintage ones. It’s nice to have one of the old ones but they invariably have chips, cracks, have been repainted (sometimes very crudely), and who knows what? And most are made of plaster, which isn’t nearly as durable as the resin that was used by Decoeyes. Im sure you will love this mannequin head, as I did for so many years!
