Hangers are removable by lifting the edge on one side. I have extensively researched this piece, and I cannot find anything like it. Gold colored metal on a wood base. It does have blemishes, consistent with age. Just guessing, but tiis probably haf more than four hangers when it was used in a department store. Please refer to pics for product specifics.
