Vintage RCA Victor Victrola Nipper the Dog Sculpture Store Display with Glass Eyes measuring approximately 14 Inches tall x 18 inches in length (from tail to nose) x 6 inches wide. The glass eyes are amber in color, and the collar is a light tan with gold buckle, name plate and trim. Nipper’s head is cocked as he listens to his masters voice coming from the Victrola player. In very good condition for age, please see photos and condition description. I don’t really know much about this dog. I have seen two others of the same size, and sculpture style that say it is paper mache’, but this looks like fiberglass. The other descriptions also say this model was produced in the 1920’s but since fiberglass wasn’t invented until the 1930’s I would date this from between 1930’s – 50’s. I have tried to find more information about this particular model without success. There is something small rattling around inside, probably a piece that came off during manufacturing, does not affect appearance or use. If anyone knows anything more about this piece I would appreciate any input. My husbands father brought back many lovely pieces of jewelry, porcelain, clothing, perfumes, and household items to his new bride upon his return from Europe after WWII.
