Vintage 1957 Revell USS Essex Model Kit Store Display Aircraft Carrier

This is an original Revell USS Essex Air Craft Carrier built as a store display by Revell. It is in remarkable condition for its age. It was mounted and painted by Revell for hobby shops. A few items could be missing, couple planes and pennants. Paint is still very nice, obviously could use a cleaning but I have left it original. This model was on display at the hobby shop in Cameron Village, Raleigh, NC. 1958 Lockheed Electra Eastern Airline Airplane Raise Up Metal Model Vintage 143

Eastern Air Lines ordered 40 188As. Size: 28 inch wingspan, 29 inches long. The Lockheed L-188A (Lockheed # 188A1007) Electra is an American turboprop airliner built by Lockheed. First flown in 1957, it was the first large turboprop airliner built in the United States. Initial sales were good, but after two fatal crashes that led to expensive modifications to fix a design defect, no more were ordered. With its unique high power-to-weight ratio, huge propellers and very short wings (resulting in the majority of the wingspan being enveloped in propwash), large Fowler flaps which significantly increased effective wing area when extended, and four-engined design, the airplane had airfield performance capabilities unmatched by many jet transport aircraft even todayparticularly on short runways and high field elevations. [citation needed] Jet airliners soon supplanted turboprops for many purposes, and many Electras were modified as freighters. Some Electras are still being used in various roles into the 21st century. The airframe was also used as the basis for the Lockheed P-3 Orion maritime patrol aircraft. American Airlines was the launch customer. Eastern Air Lines, Braniff Airways and Northwest Airlines followed. Production ended in 1961 after 170 had been built. Vintage 1960's Aurora THE MUMMY STORE DISPLAY model kit Universal Monsters

This is the original, not a reproduction. The sign is 2-sided, there is a hole at the top for hanging. It looks like something has been neatly trimmed off the bottom of the display (I’m not sure what this was, but the bottom edge is slightly uneven) when it was repurposed as a decoration. It measures about 11.5 inches tall, and about 5.25 inches wide on the base. It has a few scuffs, stains, marks, and tiny surface pulls, and pin holes at the top and bottom where it was hung up. There are stress marks/light creases and a small tear where the base meets the bottom of the mummy’s legs. One side is in better condition than the other, the “worse” side has yellowed tape residue near the hanger and the right hand, war around the hanger, and a few spots on the black base where some white scuffs have been touched-up with black ink. The bust measures approximately 18 tall. There is a slight hairline at the left side of the skull and what looks like 2 small touch-ups on the tip of the nose and lip. Looks like composition with a wooden base underneath. Signed with a raised logo that I believe is Wella. This would have probably been a wig/hair product model. This is a Very Nice Vintage Table Top Display Cabinet Case. Constructed of a Solid wood Walnut frame. Detailed 1/4 round “shoe” molding on top. There is one Shelf and two sliding glass doors that move readily in two track metal guides top and bottom. All glass appears to be original but not sure on interior shelf and doors. Bottom board is a pressed wood partially painted. Very good antique condition being structurally sound with age appropriate signs of normal use as pictured. Detail cleaned and the wood conditioned. There are some scratches on the top glass from use. Interior Shelf has two small chipped corners. Estimate age Early 20th Century. Items in case are not included but for display only. Size: 24-1/4″w x 19″h x 12d. Interior top Shelf: 23″w x 10″d. Interior Bottom Shelf: 23-1/4″w x 11″d. Bottom shelf to top shelf: 10. Top Shelf to top glass: 7-1/2.
