XLNT Vintage Wrigley's Gum Wire Store Countertop Display Rack Basket Shelf

This is an original vintage steel wire store countertop display rack advertising Wrigley’s gum (Juicy Fruit, Spearmint, and Doublemint). The display has four compartments (a rack on top and three baskets). It is designed to be mounted by the base to a countertop. The original chrome finish is intact but is dull, spotty, and a little dirty in areas. None of the wires are broken or loose but a couple are bent. The sign on top shows very little wear and the colors are still bold with little fading. The baskets hook into the stand and are held tight with set screws, but one screw is missing. However, nothing is loose and the entire piece is sturdy, solid, and fully functional. The rack measures 19″ L x 20″ H x 8 1/2 D, not including the mounting bracket. Antique Vintage Wrigley's Gum Swivel Counter Top General Store Dispenser Display

This is an original antique (1920’s) revolving general store countertop gum dispenser made by A. With several patent dates ranging from 1921 – 1928 stamped on one of the metal bars that holds the lid up (shown in the last photo). The dispenser is in the shape of a pentagon with five compartments that hold packs of gum. Condition is excellent; the entire piece is sturdy, solid, and fully functional. The dispenser swivels easily as intended, the lid lifts and stays in place as intended so the dispenser can be filled, and all five original mirrored glass panels are intact, one covering each compartment a few inches on the top of each panel is mirrored and the bottom portion is clear. One of the glass pieces has a small chip on the upper corner that is not obvious. There is no other visible damage to the glass. The entire piece is original including the finish. There is some typical minor wear to the finish including scuffs, scratches, and worn spots, especially along corners and edges, and the entire piece has acquired a naturally aged patina. The chrome bumper around the bottom is attached by tabs that are riveted to the bottom of the dispenser, and one of the end tabs is broken, so that end of the bumper is slightly loose. The damage is not noticeable and the bumper is still securely attached. The dispenser measures 14 1/2″ H x about 8″ in diameter, and each of the five compartments measure 3 1/4″ L x 5/8″ deep x about 11 H. Marked: PATENT APPL’D FOR THE PFLUGRADT CO. Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit Gum Store Display. 15 5/8″L x 9″W x 1 1/2D. 3 pounds 11 ounces. Good condition for its age. There is a crack (see photos 3 & 4) visible top and bottom, and cracks along the one edge of the base visible only from the bottom (photo 10), a fleabite near the crack (photo 4) and chips or manufacturing flaws on the base (photos 9-10). This tray is shown in the book “Great Country Store Antiques” by Rich Bertoia on page 38. Apparently, the tray originally had feet which kept the tray at an angle. I actually was never able to find any information regarding this piece on my own and a very nice eBayer sent me a photo of the tray from the book mentioned above. The photo showed the tray with the Wrigley’s gum on it with longer legs/feet underneath, near one handle and shorter feet underneath, near the other handle.
